우정 서재영 원장
Grandmaster SEO Jae-young
우정(雨亭) 서재영 원장은 태권도연무재 설립자이자 이사회 이사장이다.
1969년 통의동 「한국태권아카데미」에서 수련을 시작했다. 1972년 「창무관(彰武館) 종로 금천도장(禁川道場)」에서 입단(入段)하고 서울대학교 태권도부에서 수련을 이어갔다.
1997년 우정 원장이 연무재를 설립한 취지는 점차 무용처럼 변하는 현대 태권도에 대한 우려에서 비롯했다. 그는 서울대학교 태권도부 동문이라도 올바른 태권도 수련의 맥을 잇길 희망했다. 일례로, 도장 설계 당시 뛰어서 목검을 휘두를 수 있을 정도로 높은 층고를 확보하고 발차기의 충격을 완충시키고자 건물의 무게중심에 사낭을 고정한 것에서 그의 바람을 짐작할 수 있다.
우정 원장에 따르면 품새를 중심으로 수련하면 바른 몸짓의 활개가 이뤄지고, 여기에 무기를 들면 곧 무기술이 된다. 그는 연무재가 올바른 몸짓을 배우고자 하는 모든 사람들에게 기회의 장이 되길 바란다. 특별한 조건없이 국적, 인종, 성별과 무관하게 항상 열려있는 곳이 연무재이다. 궁극적으로 우정 원장은 연무재의 모든 동도들이 바른 몸짓을 깨달아 양생을 얻고, 궁극적으로 행복한 삶을 살길 원한다.
우정 원장은 일면 무역업계에서 30년 이상 국가경제발전에 이바지한 기업인이다. 서방실업 창업주이자 대표이며, 서울대학교 자원공학과에서 공학사를 취득했다. 현재 가족들과 남양주시에 거주하고 있다.
Grandmaster Mr. SEO Jae-young (Art name: "Woojung") is one of the founding masters of Yonmujae and the chairman of the board of directors.
In 1969, he started practicing Taekwondo at Jongro Taekwon Academy located at Tong'eui-dong, Seoul. In 1972, he obtained a black belt at Chang Moo Kwan Jongro Keumcheon Dojang and continued his training at Seoul National University Taekwondo Club.
In 1997, Grandmaster Woojung established Yonmujae and built its dojang from his concern against modern Taekwondo, which is gradually changing like acrobatics. He hoped that even the alumni of Seoul National University Taekwondo Club would preserve the techniques of traditional taekwondo. For example, he intentionally designed a high ceiling enough to swing the sword in the dojang. Moreover, he fixed the sag in the center of gravity of the building to burden the impact of the kick.
According to him, when poomsae are properly performed, proper body movements are also archived, and if any weapon is put on hands, it becomes the art of weapons. He wants Yonmujae to be a forum for everyone who wants to learn real martial arts. Yonmujae is unconditionally opened to everybody regardless of nationality, race or gender. Ultimately, he wants all Yonmujae members to live a happy life with a good health through taekwondo training.
He is a business man who has contributed to Korean economic development for more than 30 years in the trading industry. He is a founder and CEO of Seobang Industrial Co., Ltd.. He has a bachelor's degree in resource engineering from Seoul National University, currently living with his family in Namyangju City.
홍기민 수석사범
Cheif Master Instructor HONG Ki-min
홍기민 사범은 연무재 이사이며 훈련/홍보를 담당하다 변형근 사범으로 부터 최선임 수석사범을 이어 받았다. 변형근 사범의 소개로 2002년 2월 연무재에 입회했다.
그는 어려서부터 무예에 대한 동경이 있었다. 연무재 수련에 참석한 첫 날, 그는 연무재태권도가 평생 함께 할 무예임을 알게되었다고 한다. 홍 사범은 2002년부터 수련해 왔지만 여전히 부족함을 느낀다고 고백한다. 수련에 대해 더 깊이 이해하고 그 안에서 찾은 즐거움을 동도들과 공유하여 건강한 삶의 보탬이 되길 희망하고 있다.
서울 태생으로 현재 IT업계에 종사하며 아내와 딸과 함께 서울에 살고 있다.
Master Hong Ki-min is a director of Yeonmujae and was in charge of training/publicity. He succeeded Master Byeon Hyeong-geun as the most senior Master Instructor. He joined Yeonmujae in February 2002, introduced by Master Byeon Hyeong-geun.
He had aspired to martial arts since he was young. On his first day of attending Yeonmujae training, he realized that Yeonmujae Taekwondo would be a martial art he would pursue for life. Although Master Hong has been training since 2002, he confesses that he still feels inadequate. He hopes to gain a deeper understanding of the training and share the joy he finds in it with his fellow practitioners, contributing to a healthier life.
Born in Seoul, he currently works in the IT industry and lives in Seoul with his wife and daughter.
이주환 사범
Master Instructor Lee Joo-hwan
이주환 사범은 2002년 11월 연무재에 입회했다.
20대 초반 군복무 중 TV방송을 통해 연무재를 처음 알았고 제대이후를 사회로 복귀하면서 무도의 길을 걷고자 연무재 수련을 시작하였다.
2005년 7월 연무재 사범으로 임명되어 현재까지 총무사범 역임을 하고 있다.
20대의 이주환 사범은 연무재 수련을 통해 ‘정기신(精氣神)’일체 이루어 강인한 무도인이 됨을 꿈꿔 왔지만 현재(2025년) 40대의 이주환 사범은 다만 호흡과 동작의 일체를 통한 건강한 삶을 영유 하는 것이 목표이다.
이주환 사범은 2012년 12월부터 ‘아쉬탕가 빈야사 요가(Ashtanga Vinyasa yoga)’를 병행 수련 하고 있으며 현재 서울에 거주하며 요가강사를 병행하고 있다.
Master Lee Joo-hwan joined Yeonmujae in November 2002. He first learned about Yeonmujae through a TV broadcast while serving in the military in his early twenties. After his discharge and return to civilian life, he began training at Yeonmujae with the intention of pursuing the path of martial arts. He was appointed as a Master Instructor of Yeonmujae in July 2005 and has served as the General Affairs Master Instructor (총무사범) ever since.
In his twenties, Master Lee Joo-hwan dreamed of becoming a strong martial artist by achieving the unity of Jeong-Gi-Shin (精氣神 - essence, vital energy, and spirit) through Yeonmujae training. However, the current Master Lee Joo-hwan (in his 40s in 2025) now aims simply to lead a healthy life through the unity of breath and movement.
Master Lee Joo-hwan has also been practicing 'Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga' since December 2012. He currently resides in Seoul and works concurrently as a yoga instructor.
변형근 사범
Instructor BYUN Hyung-geun
변형근 사범은 2001년에 연무재에 입회하고 2002년 서재영 원장에게 사범직과 검정띠를 수여받았다.
최선임 수석사범을 역임 하였다.
변형근 사범에 따르면 연무재 태권도는 "수련을 통한 깨달음, 깨달음을 통한 체득"이라는 반복 정진으로 높은 경지에 이를 수 있는 무술이다. 실제로 그는 연무재 태권도를 통해 올바른 몸짓과 호흡에 상당한 경지에 올랐으나 지금은 개인적인 사정으로 수련에서 잠시 떠나 있다.
서울 태생의 그는 IT업계에 종사하며 아내와 딸과 서울에 거주하고 있다.
Master BYUN Hyung-geun joined Yeonmujae in 2001 and was granted the title of Master Instructor and the black belt by Grandmaster Seo Jae-young in 2002. He served as the most senior Master Instructor.
According to Master BYUN Hyung-geun, Yeonmujae Taekwondo is a martial art that allows one to reach a high level through the repetitive diligent practice of "realization through training, and embodiment through realization." Indeed, he attained considerable mastery of proper movement and breathing through Yeonmujae Taekwondo, but is currently taking a temporary break from training due to personal circumstances.
Born in Seoul, he works in the IT industry and resides in Seoul with his wife and daughter.
